DuBose is a faith-based, non-profit 501(c)3 conference, camp, and retreat center on a beautiful mountaintop setting in Monteagle, Tennessee. Located just 45 miles from Chattanooga, DuBose is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Our Center regularly hosts retreats and meetings for faiths of all denominations, conferences, businesses, and local programs. Our facilities offer year-round meeting spaces, lodging, and dining services.

Maintenance Worker – Full-Time (Temporary)

DuBose has an immediate opening for a Maintenance Worker – Full-Time (Temporary). This worker will be responsible for overseeing and implementing all maintenance / buildings & grounds operations at DuBose Conference Center.

Temporary appointment begins the first day of work and continues full-time (40 hours a week) until the DuBose Head of Maintenance returns from leave. This fill-in position is expected to last for 3 – 6 months. Under normal circumstances (ie, not because of termination / employee dismissal due to conduct or performance) individual can be assured to receive at least two weeks’ notice prior to appointment end date.

Job Duties: The candidate will report to the Executive Director but may work closely with Guest Services, Groundskeeping, Gardening, and Housekeeping. Examples of work this individual may be responsible for include:

  • Daily Maintenance & Repairs (large trash pickup, doorlock changes or repairs, etc.)

  • Routine maintenance (change air filters, water heater checks, seasonal building maintenance, etc).

  • Setups for incoming guest groups (moving chairs, 8-foot tables, easels; setting up a/v; etc)

  • Small Plumbing or Light Electrical (toilets, sinks, swapping outlets or bulbs, etc)

  • Pool Maintenance (chemicals, paint, etc)

  • Tile work, drywall, stucco, patching, and other buildings-related cosmetic improvements

  • Grounds Work as needed (campfire building, limb removal, rock salt on sidewalks, etc)

  • All other duties that fall within the scope of Maintenance as assigned, developed, or directed by the Executive Director.

Housekeeping Staff Member Position - Part-Time

The Housekeeping Staff Member position is an entry-level, part-time job, with hourly pay. Housekeeping staff report directly to the Head Housekeeper, who in turn reports to the Guest Services Manager. Due to the seasonality of the business, longer hours may be required during peak business.

Primary Duties

  • Thoroughly cleans all assigned areas to meet prescribed cleanliness standards and supervisor expectations.

  • Communicates regularly the status of assigned areas to Housekeeping Supervisor.

  • Reports any lost and found items to the Housekeeping Supervisor immediately, listing the room number or area where the item was found.

  • Reports any damaged or missing items to Housekeeping Supervisor.

  • Reports exceptional and/or unusual circumstances, such as bags left outside of rooms, sleep-outs, damage in the rooms, maintenance issues, etc. to the Housekeeping Supervisor.

  • Maintains exceptional communication with Housekeeping Supervisor and other housekeeping staff in order to ensure an overall positive guest experience and the achievement of departmental goals.
